JOB TITLE
Diagnostic Technician
POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the Diagnostic Technician is to work relatively close with the clinic physicians to perform basic, advanced, and complex testing
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Perform the necessary diagnostic testing of the eye while having a basic understanding and knowledge of these tests such as OCT macula, OCT optic nerves, Lenstar, ORB scan, Optos Fundus photos, EPIC (OPD and glare), IMMERSION and HVF, any other related tests as needed Assist with answering calls and emails: Triage, RX Refills, questions regarding patient chart/plan, etc.) Become familiar with basic conditions and diseases of the eye Maintains and sterilizes room and equipment, properly turning on and off all equipment Assists Technicians and Scribes as needed Administers topical ophthalmic medication and understanding basic ocular pharmacology; names of meds and their uses
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
AND ABILITIES
): High School Diploma or GED required Previous healthcare or patient-care experience preferred, but not required Ophthalmic experience is a plus, but willing to train the right candidate CPR certification preferred, but not required Strong communication and interpersonal skills Comfortable working with patients and providing excellent customer service Able to learn and perform basic diagnostic testing accurately Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record (EMR) systems Dependable, organized, and willing to learn Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff Bilingual skills are a plus
