We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmology Technician to join our healthcare team at Lackland AFB with Aspire Medical Staffing . The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in ophthalmic procedures, patient care, and medical office operations. As an Ophthalmology Technician, you will support ophthalmologists by preparing patients for examinations, performing diagnostic tests, and assisting with various clinical procedures. Your expertise in optical systems, medical terminology, and anatomy will contribute to delivering exceptional eye care services while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining a compassionate approach to patient interactions.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Degree/Education:

High School Diploma Experience:

Five years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician/Technologist after COA, COT, or COMT certification from JCAHPO.

Certifications:

BLS Certification must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines. Possess and maintain current certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)

MUST BE A US CITIZEN DUTIES

Provide a wide variety of duties to assist the optometrist/ophthalmologist as appropriate to the level of certification (i.e., COA, COT, or COMT). Instruct patients concerning eye care and contact lens handling. Prepares patients and performs as surgical assistant in all types of ophthalmic surgery and/or minor surgical procedures as required. Orders and maintains ophthalmologic medications, supplies and equipment for use by the physician. Perform routine checks of medications and sterile instrument packs for expiration dates Maintains and performs required periodic calibration checks on surgical instruments and equipment. Perform user maintenance checks on specialized clinic and surgical equipment. Perform calibration checks on clinical diagnostic equipment and documents such calibration according to specification listed on equipment. Assists in administrative/clinical duties when not actively working in patient care, to include maintaining cleanliness per infection control
