Job Description

Optometric Assistant About Our Practice We are a patient-focused private optometry practice located in the heart of Downtown Middlebury, dedicated to providing exceptional eye care in a welcoming and professional environment. We pride ourselves on building lasting relationships with our patients and delivering personalized care using the latest diagnostic technology. Position Summary We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about patient care, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and is able to multitask. This position plays a vital role in supporting our Paraoptometric Technicians by performing testing and gathering information and our Office Manager by assisting with behind the scenes tasks, ordering of eyewear and event planning. Responsibilities Obtain and document patient medical histories, medications, and visual concerns. Perform preliminary testing, including: Visual Fields, OCT scans and Retinal imaging. Prepare patients for examination and assist the doctors as needed. Train patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care. Assist with contact lens ordering and inventory management. Assist with eyeglass ordering and frame board management. Assist with planning of Trunk Shows and other special events. Collaborate with front desk and optical staff to ensure a seamless patient experience. Support practice growth by providing exceptional customer service and fostering patient loyalty. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a team-oriented environment. Basic computer proficiency. Preferred Experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or healthcare. Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) certification or willingness to obtain certification. Familiarity with electronic medical records and diagnostic testing equipment. Experience with contact lens training and patient education. Willingness to cross-train into other departments for assistance as necessary. What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience.
