Optometric Assistant Family Eye Clinic (Amery/Luck) ( Please note this is a part time position) 2-3 Days a week Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. This position involves a variety of tasks, including assisting with patient examinations, managing front desk operations, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the office. Responsibilities Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing equipment and ensuring the examination room is organized. Manage front desk operations, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and handling patient inquiries. Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity checks and maintaining accurate patient records. Handle medical coding and billing processes to ensure proper documentation and insurance claims. Provide information on optical products and services to patients, assisting them in making informed choices. Maintain aseptic techniques to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients. Support retail sales by promoting eyewear products and accessories available in the practice. Work effectively with pediatric patients, ensuring their comfort during visits. Experience Previous experience in an optometric or medical office setting is preferred but not required. Familiarity with medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the healthcare team. Experience with medical coding and billing processes is advantageous. Retail sales experience is beneficial, particularly in an optical or healthcare-related field. Knowledge of aseptic techniques is a plus to maintain hygiene standards within the practice. A background in pediatrics can enhance interactions with younger patients.
