Responsibilities Assist customers in selecting eyewear by understanding their needs, preferences, and prescriptions, providing expert advice on frames, lenses, and fittings. Dispense spectacle lenses accurately using optical laboratory experience and spectacle lens dispensing techniques, ensuring optimal vision correction. Conduct eyewear fittings and adjustments with precision, including frame alignment and comfort assessments. Operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently to process sales transactions while maintaining accuracy with retail math calculations. Maintain detailed medical records and electronic health records (EHR/EMR) in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Support laboratory processes such as lens cutting, edging, and quality checks to ensure high standards of optical products. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries regarding health regulation policies, medical terminology, and optical product features. Assist in verifying vital signs when necessary for patient consultations or special assessments related to pediatrics or other specialties. Requirements Proven experience in retail optometry or optical laboratory settings with a strong understanding of optics, anatomy knowledge, and physiology. Familiarity with ophthalmology practices, medical coding, HIPAA compliance, and state healthcare regulations. Hands-on experience with spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and optical lab equipment. Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health and vision correction procedures. Ability to operate POS systems, EMR/EHR software, and perform basic math calculations accurately for retail transactions. Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to client engagement and education. Basic understanding of vital signs measurement techniques and aseptic procedures when applicable.
