THE OPPORTUNITY

Zoomer makes prescription lenses the way almost nobody in retail does anymore: in our own surfacing and finishing lab, behind a glass wall, while the customer watches. We deliver same-day progressives, prescription sunglasses and re-lensed frames, and hold a 5.0 rating across more than 750 Google and Yelp reviews. With a second Orange County location opening next year, we are adding a senior optician to lead sales at our Newport Beach flagship.

THE ROLE

STREAMLINED

CONSULTING

This is a front-of-store consulting and sales role. Because 90% of our customers bring their own frames, the conversation is about optics, not fashion. We use the best materials, include every premium coating in a single price, and never upsell. A consultation takes 5-10 minutes: you evaluate the frame and prescription, recommend our "better" or "best" lens, explain why in plain English, and hand the job to the lab, often for same-day pickup.

It is a busy floor:

around 50 customer interactions a day between new consultations and pickups, plus phone calls, so the pace is quick and the day goes fast.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Consult and dispense: Turn a prescription and a customer's frame into a confident, honest recommendation in under 10 minutes.

Precision measurements:

Take manual and digital measurements (PD, seg height, vertex), enter orders accurately and take payment.

Verification and fitting:

Verify finished glasses against the prescription, perform bench adjustments at pickup, and handle the occasional non-adaptation with calm expertise.

Presentation:

Keep the front of store and the visible lab looking the way a customer paying for premium lenses expects. Lab operations (bonus): As you learn our finishing lab (MEI EasyFit edger, digital lensometer, Satisloh ES-Trace HD, DVI software), you will have the opportunity to edge and mount. Existing experience here is a major plus, not a starting requirement.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Optical dispensing experience and comfort explaining lens technology to customers without pressure; ABO certification preferred. Finishing-lab experience is a bonus. The energy and stamina for a high-volume floor: on a typical day you will personally handle about 25 new consultations and 25 pickups, plus phone calls, on your feet and moving all shift, without letting the quality of any single interaction slip. Someone who wants a stable, long-term role in a small team and takes pride in being the face of the store. Availability on Saturday and Sunday, 11 am-3 pm.

ABOUT THE WEEKEND SHIFTS

Weekends are required, but we keep them deliberately short: 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday. You aren't up early, and the day is still yours. The rest of your hours fall on weekdays.
