About the Role We're looking for a friendly, organized, and detail‑oriented Receptionist / Optician to join our growing optometry practice on a full-time basis. As an important member of our team, you'll be the first point of contact for our patients and will play a key role in creating a welcoming, professional, and positive patient experience. This position combines front-desk responsibilities with optical support, including assisting patients with frame selection, eyewear orders, and more. We're seeking someone who enjoys working with people, can confidently multitask in a fast-paced environment, and brings warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail to every interaction. Previous optometry or optical experience is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Front Desk & Patient Experience Greet and welcome patients in a friendly and professional manner. Check patients in and out and ensure all required forms and information are completed. Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient questions. Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments. Maintain an organized and efficient daily schedule. Provide excellent customer service and help create a positive patient experience. Administrative & Insurance Support Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information. Assist with insurance eligibility and benefit verification. Collect co-pays and process patient payments accurately. Assist with billing inquiries and communicate with patients regarding financial responsibilities. Maintain accurate patient records and protect confidential information in accordance with HIPAA requirements. Perform general office duties, including data entry, and patient communication. Optical & Optician Support Assist patients with selecting eyeglass frames based on their style, needs, and prescription. Educate patients on available lens options, coatings, and eyewear products. Take basic eyewear measurements and assist with frame adjustments and fittings. Process and track eyewear orders and communicate order status with patients. Assist with dispensing completed eyewear and ensuring proper fit and patient satisfaction. Maintain an organized and visually appealing optical display area. Help manage frame inventory, supplies, and vendor orders. Office Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and optical area. Assist with general office organization and daily operational tasks. Work closely with doctors and clinical staff to help ensure smooth patient flow. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Strong communication and customer-service skills Friendly, professional, and patient-focused demeanor Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Comfortable using computers, scheduling systems, and office software Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team Reliable, punctual, and responsible Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in an optometry or medical office Previous experience as an optician or working in an optical retail environment Familiarity with vision insurance and benefit verification Experience with electronic health records (EHR) or practice management software Knowledge of eyeglass frames, lenses, lens options, fittings, and adjustments
