Job Description
Senior Optician — Private Optometry Practice Redwood City, CA $30-$36/hour + performance bonus Full-time We are an established private optometric practice in Redwood City looking for an experienced optician with strong optical sales skills to join our team. This is an excellent position for someone who knows the optical business, enjoys working with patients, and is genuinely good at helping people choose eyewear they love. We are not looking simply for someone who can take measurements and process an order. We are looking for an optician who understands how to guide a patient through the buying process, recommend appropriate lens and frame options, and confidently close a sale while providing excellent patient care. What You'll Do Help patients select frames that fit their appearance, lifestyle, prescription, and budget Recommend lens designs, materials, coatings, and other optical options Explain premium lens choices clearly and confidently Take accurate optical measurements and place eyewear orders Adjust, fit, dispense, and troubleshoot glasses Work with vision plans and help patients understand their benefits Develop strong relationships with patients and provide an excellent optical experience Help maintain an attractive, organized, and productive optical department Contribute to optical sales, capture rate, and overall practice performance Resolve eyewear problems and remakes professionally and efficiently We're Looking for Someone Who Has at least 2 years of optical experience ; more experience is strongly preferred Has a strong working knowledge of frames, lenses, coatings, measurements, fitting, and adjustments Has demonstrated ability in optical sales Is comfortable recommending premium products when they genuinely benefit the patient Is personable, confident, and able to build rapport quickly Can balance excellent patient care with strong sales performance Is organized, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of the optical Works well as part of a private-practice team Has experience with major vision plans such as VSP and/or EyeMed ABO certification is a plus but is not required for an otherwise outstanding candidate. Compensation $30-$36 per hour , depending on experience and demonstrated optical/sales ability. We also offer a performance bonus opportunity based on optical results and quality of service.
