This role is built around three things: patients come first, the team stays motivated and driven, and we eliminate waste— in time, materials, and effort. If you bring high energy to every day, know how to run a dispensary with discipline, and have led a team before, we want to talk. What You'll Do As Lead Optician, you'll set the tone on the floor from the moment a patient walks in—greeting them immediately, keeping service moving with urgency, and personally handling complex or high-stakes dispenses so every pair of glasses is right the first time. You'll build systems that keep administrative work like billing and insurance follow-up confined to slow periods, so once a patient is in the practice, they're always the priority. You'll lead by working the floor alongside your team, not from behind a desk — taking patients, handling tough cases, and bringing the kind of high, consistent energy that sets the pace for everyone else. That means running regular one-on-ones, recognizing good work publicly, watching for burnout before it becomes turnover, and building a culture where mistakes get flagged early instead of hidden. On the operations side, you'll drive down remake and redo rates through accurate measurements and first-time-right ordering with our outside lab, right-size inventory to cut waste, standardize workflows to reduce wait times, and partner with the Director of Operations on hiring input, performance reviews, and continuing-education planning. You'll also ensure compliance with HIPAA, medical records management, and clinical confidentiality policies during every patient interaction, and provide ongoing training to your team on optical procedures, retail sales techniques, and regulatory requirements. What You Bring We're looking for someone with proven experience as a dispensing optician who is comfortable performing and teaching accurate measurements (PD, segment height, vertex distance, pantoscopic tilt), giving direct, real-time feedback, and holding a team to a high standard. You should carry a track record of reducing errors, remakes, or turnaround time. Management or team-lead experience is required. This is a leadership role first — not an entry point into management.
