Job Description

Overview We are seeking an experienced Optician / Optical Sales Associate to join our growing, independent optometric practice! We provide comprehensive patient care to a wide patient base, and are focused on providing personalized patient care as well as offering a wide spectrum of optical products tailored for a variety of patient needs. In this energetic role, you will combine your passion for eye care with exceptional customer service to help patients find the perfect eyewear solutions. Your expertise will support the clinical side of eye care while delivering a positive, engaging experience for every patient. The right candidate should ideally have a comprehensive skill set - diverse knowledge of the optical field, be able to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, and have crucial attention to detail. Knowledge of proper frame fitment, appropriate lens design and material recommendations, and understanding of general optical properties is required. Basic knowledge of contact lenses would be helpful. Light administrative duties will be part of the role. Frame stylists and optical staff with experience are encouraged to apply. Licensure and ability to perform lab work (e.g. lensometry, lens edging and finishing) is a plus, but not mandatory. Salary commensurate with experience and knowledge base. Part-time or full-time will be considered for the right candidate. Responsibilities Greet patients and customers warmly, providing personalized assistance in selecting eyewear that fits their style and needs Measure and fit eyeglasses accurately, ensuring optimal comfort and vision correction Assist with maintaining medical history in compliance with HIPAA regulations Support optometrists by preparing exam rooms, handling medical records, and managing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems Maintain laboratory experience by helping with lens edging, frame adjustments, and inventory management of optical supplies Educate patients on proper lens care, frame maintenance, and the importance of regular eye exams. Experience Prior optical experience or retail sales background with a strong understanding of retail math and sales techniques Knowledge of eyecare practices, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical coding is highly desirable Experience working with diverse patient groups including pediatrics and senior care populations Hands-on laboratory experience with lens fabrication or optical equipment is a plus Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records management and patient confidentiality Strong communication skills to explain complex medical concepts clearly and empathetically to patients Join us to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through exceptional eye care!
