As an Optician - Optical Sales, you will be responsible for assisting patients with eyewear selections, conducting fittings, and ensuring compliance with health regulation policies while providing comprehensive optical care. Responsibilities Assist customers in selecting appropriate eyewear frames and lenses based on their prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences. Conduct eyewear fittings, adjustments, and repairs to ensure optimal comfort and functionality. Dispense spectacle lenses accurately using optical laboratory experience and knowledge of ophthalmology principles. Operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently to process transactions while maintaining accuracy. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, explaining product features, and guiding patients through the selection process. Maintain detailed medical records and ensure clinical confidentiality policies are upheld in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Support laboratory procedures such as lens edging, frame adjustments, and quality control checks to meet health regulation standards. Collaborate with optometrists and healthcare professionals to ensure compliance with state healthcare regulations and clinical protocols. Manage inventory of eyewear frames, lenses, and accessories, ensuring proper stock levels and organization within the optical department. Uphold aseptic techniques during any clinical procedures involving vital signs or medical records handling to maintain patient safety. Requirements Proven experience in retail optometry or optical sales with familiarity in ophthalmology practices. Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health, physiology, anatomy, and vision correction procedures. Experience operating EMR/EHR systems for managing patient records securely and accurately. Strong understanding of health regulation policies including HIPAA compliance and clinic confidentiality policies. Skills in spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustment, and optical laboratory techniques. Ability to perform basic math calculations for retail transactions, insurance processing, and inventory management. Excellent customer service skills combined with effective communication abilities tailored to diverse patient populations including pediatrics. Familiarity with POS systems, retail math, medical coding practices related to vision care, and clinic experience preferred.
