We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient-focused Optician to join our growing optical team. This position will primarily be based at one of our four satellite offices, with occasional opportunities to work at one of our main office in Boise. The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to creating an exceptional experience for every patient. Previous experience in an optical, optometry, or ophthalmology setting is preferred; however, we are willing to offer paid on-the-job training to the right individual who is eager to learn and grow with our team. Key Responsibilities Provide a welcoming, professional, and personalized experience for every patient. Assist patients with frame selection, lens options, and retail optical purchases focused on high-end fashion and personal style. Offer knowledgeable recommendations regarding frame fit, function, comfort, and appearance. Educate patients about available lens materials, coatings, and treatment options. Dispense eyewear and make precise adjustments to ensure proper fit, comfort, and performance. Verify, understand, and explain VSP vision benefits. Complete optical orders, documentation, and charting accurately and efficiently. Troubleshoot eyewear, prescription, lens, and frame-related concerns. Schedule patients for eyewear dispensing, adjustments, and other appointments as needed. Perform assigned opening and closing duties. Help maintain an organized, professional, and visually appealing optical department. Work collaboratively with providers, technicians, and other members of the practice. Working with Providers to ensure accuracy of dispensed prescriptions and materials. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous optical, ophthalmology, optometry, or customer service experience preferred. ABO certification preferred. Experience operating a manual lensometer preferred. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Professional, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Schedule Monday through Friday. Eight-hour shifts. Occasional travel to one of our other five offices may be required.
