Lead Optician - NorthfieldForsight Vision | Northfield, IL Are you an experienced optician who is ready to take the lead? Forsight Vision is looking for a motivated, confident Lead Optician to join our Northfield team. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who loves optical, enjoys selling, takes ownership, and wants to play a key role in the success of the office. We are a growing private eye care practice that combines comprehensive eye care, medical eye care, dry eye treatment, myopia management, and a high-end optical experience. We're looking for someone who can lead from the front — someone who is comfortable selling, coaching the team, helping patients find the right eyewear, and keeping the office running smoothly. Your Role As Lead Optician, you will be responsible for driving optical sales while also supporting the overall operation of the office. You will work closely with the doctors and Practice Manager to ensure our patients receive an exceptional experience from the moment they walk through the door. When the Practice Manager is not in the office, you will be the go-to leader responsible for keeping the office running efficiently and the team on track. Key Responsibilities Drive Optical Sales Take ownership of achieving and exceeding monthly optical sales goals Actively sell and confidently recommend eyewear based on each patient's needs, lifestyle, and budget Develop multiple-pair opportunities and educate patients on the benefits of additional eyewear Build value around premium frames, lenses, and lens technologies Use strong product knowledge and genuine patient relationships to create an exceptional buying experience Monitor sales performance and help motivate the team to reach their goals Lead the Optical Team Lead by example and demonstrate outstanding sales and patient service skills Coach and support team members in optical sales, product knowledge, and patient interactions Help create a positive, energetic, accountable team environment Assist with training new team members Encourage the team to identify opportunities and take ownership of the patient's entire experience Patient Care & Pretesting Perform patient pretesting accurately and efficiently Assist with patient flow and ensure patients move smoothly through their appointments Educate patients about their eye care and eyewear options Work closely with doctors to understand and fulfill patients' vision and lifestyle needs Provide a seamless handoff from the doctor to optical Office Operations Serve as the leader on duty when the Practice Manager is not present Oversee daily office operations and workflow Address patient concerns and resolve issues professionally Help manage scheduling, patient flow, and staffing needs Ensure office policies and procedures are followed Monitor the overall patient experience and step in wherever needed Communicate important issues and updates to the Practice Manager Help maintain a clean, organized, professional office environment What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: An experienced optician with a strong understanding of optical sales Confident asking for the sale and comfortable discussing premium products A natural leader who can motivate others by example Energetic, positive, and personable Excellent at building relationships with patients Organized and able to multitask Comfortable making decisions and taking ownership A strong communicator who works well with doctors and team members Someone who can balance sales, patient care, and leadership Willing to jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed Optical experience is required.
