Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optician/Front Desk Receptionist, where you'll be the welcoming face of our optical practice and a vital contributor to patient care. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will ensure patients receive outstanding service while supporting the clinical operations behind the scenes. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their appointments, and assist with check-in procedures at the front desk. Manage patient records with strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies, ensuring accuracy and privacy. Conduct basic eye assessments, including vital signs and preliminary vision tests, supporting ophthalmologists and optometrists. Dispense spectacle lenses and assist with eyewear fittings, adjustments, and repairs, utilizing optical laboratory experience when needed. Operate POS systems, cash registers, and EMR/EHR (Electronic Medical Records/Electronic Health Records) systems efficiently for billing and data entry. Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about eyewear options, insurance coverage, and health regulation policies. Assist in laboratory tasks such as spectacle lens selection, frame adjustments, and maintaining aseptic techniques during clinical procedures. Support retail sales efforts by promoting eyewear products, accessories, and optical services to enhance patient satisfaction and practice revenue. Requirements Prior experience in optical retail or clinical optometry settings is highly preferred. Understanding of HIPAA regulations, medical billing procedures, and state healthcare regulations to ensure compliance. Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for transactions and insurance processing. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor and professional communication abilities.
