Part-Time Optician & Optical Lab Coordinator (1099 Contractor) City Styles 313 Southfield, MI Job Details Part-time From $18 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Contact lens dispensing Optical experience Administrative experience Attention to detail Organizational skills Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a highly organized Part-Time Optician / Lab Coordinator to join our team as a flexible 1099 Independent Contractor. Right now, we need hands-on help running the daily operations of our Southfield office. This role is perfect for someone with optical experience who wants to grow with a company. As we install our diagnostic equipment and launch our exam lane, this position is designed to evolve into a clinical Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) role. Duties
  • Optical Orders:
    Take accurate patient measurements, assist with frame selection, and process precision lens orders. (Bonus incentives available for successfully executing rush orders).
  • Lab Organization & Edging:
    Keep the optical lab highly organized, prep materials, and manage inventory. Candidates with experience edging lenses in-house will be prioritized.
  • Tele-Optometry Prep:
    Assist management in preparing the office space and workflows for the upcoming 20/20NOW equipment installation.
Administrative & Billing Support:
Help organize our back-end workflows as we finalize our insurance credentialing (future duties will expand into processing optical claims).
To Apply:

  • Proven experience as an Optician or Optical Assistant (lens ordering, measurements, dispensing).
  • Bonus Qualifications:
    Active COT certification OR hands-on experience edging lenses will qualify you for a higher starting pay rate.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail for lab and inventory management.
  • A forward-thinking mindset with an interest in growing into a clinical/tech role as we implement in-house eye exams.
  • Self-starter, adaptable, and comfortable operating as a 1099 Independent Contractor.
Must be available to work in-office at our Southfield location 3 to 4 days a week from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
Pay:
From $18.00 per hour
