About Us:

GTOC is a multi-specialty ophthalmology clinic serving the Traverse City and Petoskey areas. We combine clinical eye care with a curated selection of eyewear, and we're looking for someone with strong people skills who's ready for a role that will grow over time.

What You'll Do:

As our Front Desk Associate/Optician, you'll be the face of our optical department — greeting patients, managing check-out, handling scheduling and payments, and keeping the front of the optical department running smoothly. This position is intended to expand into hands-on optician duties, including frame selection, lens consultations, and fittings, with full on-the-job training provided for those new to the field.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Greet and check out patients in a warm, organized way Manage scheduling, payments, and insurance/billing questions at the front desk Maintain accurate patient records Coordinate with doctors and clinic staff for a smooth patient flow Assist patients with frame and lens selection, use optical equipment for measurements and fittings, and explain lens options and care instructions

What We're Looking For:

Strong customer service instincts and patience working with the public Comfort with detail-oriented, fast-paced front-desk work Ability to work well as part of a small team in a clinical setting Optician experience or certification is a plus and will be reflected in starting pay; no prior optical experience required for those interested in growing into the role

What You'll Experience Here:

A close-knit team, hands-on training, exposure to both the administrative and clinical/retail sides of eye care, and support toward ABO Board certification with study materials and exam fees covered by GTOC.
