JOB DESCRIPTION
HealthPartners is hiring for an Optician to work at the HealthPartners Specialty Center.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
Minimum of two years full-time Optical Department experience. Proven ability to interact with patients and staff in a courteous and cooperative manner.
PREFERRED
Formal opticianary training from an accredited technical school. American Board of Opticianary certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess manual dexterity, good vision and be self-mobile.
POSITION PURPOSE
Service excellence is to be centered on patient care and patient relationships and is the responsibility of all employees. Teamwork is the norm and all employees will be held accountable to work as effective team members. To advise and assist patients in eyewear selection, delivery, adjustment, repair and consultation. To deliver these services in a professional, cost effective and timely manner.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Proven ability to interpret eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions. Proven ability to advise and assist patient in frame and lens selection. Proven ability to perform measurements of frame and lens specifications. Proven ability to provide patient contact lens insertion and removal training. Proven ability to consult with patient and resolve eyewear and contact lenses problems or concerns. Proven ability to perform eyewear adjustments and repairs. Place orders for frame and lenses fabrication with approved optical laboratories. Place orders for contact lenses with approved contact lenses laboratories / vendors. Verify orders (eyeglasses or contact lenses) received from optical contact lens laboratories / vendors to ensure accuracy. Maintain frame-display board by accurate pricing and purchasing of appropriate frame product and performing physical count as directed. Maintain diagnostic contact lens inventory by organizing, cleaning and performing physical count as directed. Price and collect fees for eyewear and contact lenses. Maintain and order department supplies. Responsible for answering telephone, maintaining files, contacting patients, preparing reports and other office functions as necessary.
