Duties Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences Conduct eyewear fittings, adjustments, and frame repairs to ensure optimal comfort and functionality Dispense spectacle lenses accurately, including verifying prescriptions and explaining lens options to patients Operate optical laboratory equipment for lens cutting, edging, and mounting to produce precise eyewear products Maintain detailed medical records and update electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies Support clinical staff by taking vital signs, performing basic eye assessments, and understanding anatomy and physiology relevant to eye health Manage retail sales transactions using POS systems, including cash register operations and inventory management Requirements Proven experience in optical or retail optometry environments with knowledge of optics and eyewear fitting techniques Familiarity with ophthalmology terminology, medical coding, and health regulation policies such as HIPAA and state healthcare regulations Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and empathetically Ability to operate laboratory equipment safely while adhering to aseptic techniques and clinic safety protocols Basic math skills for measuring prescriptions, calculating retail math, and processing transactions accurately Experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or similar platforms for managing medical records Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health, pediatrics, senior care, and clinical confidentiality policies This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in optical sciences while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
