Full Job Description Position:
Dual Licensed Optician Position Summary Assists members in choosing and ordering eyeglasses. Uses computer to process orders, fits eyeglasses, dispenses eyeglasses and contacts and oversees apprentices. Provides prompt and courteous member service. Follows department procedures for stocking and cleaning. Follows state laws for ordering and dispensing. Job Duties/Essential Functions  Assists members to choose eyeglass frames and lens options appropriate to the lens prescription. Provides and ensures prompt and courteous member service.  Checks contact lenses and completed eyeglasses against prescription prior to dispensing to member. Fits and adjusts eyeglasses to member using hand tools and frame warmer and bending with fingers.  Stocks merchandise and supplies. Follows department procedures and standards for production, record keeping, merchandising, and product storage.  Orders equipment, merchandise, and supplies by keying into computer. Keys receipt of special orders from outside vendors. Follows safety and security procedures.  Rings up orders and over-the-counter merchandise. Receives accurate payment, makes change, processes checks, credit, and debit charges according to proper procedures for paperwork, cash handling, and performance of duties.  Cleans department by spraying, wiping, and mopping. Empties trash, operates trash compactor and cardboard baler.  Measures member for pupilary distance using pupilometer and observes line of sight to determine bifocal placement.  Keys member order into computer. Places special orders to outside vendors by telephone.  Oversees apprentices as required for certification qualification.  Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of potentially hazardous materials. Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery Computer, phone, fax, copier, cash register, cardboard baler, trash compactor, hand held scanner, pupilometer, lensometer, frame warmer, small pliers and screwdriver. Non-Essential Functions  Assists with front end duties and in other departments of the warehouse, as necessary. Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery  Cash register, tabletop/hand-held scanners, carts, flatbeds. Experience, skills, education & licenses/certifications
Required:
 Training and apprenticeship as required by state.  National ABO and NCLE Certification and/or State License as required by law.  Hazard Communication and JHA (initial assignment), Professionals HIPAA Training (before beginning work in department),
Costco Hazardous Materials DOT Training Course:
Part 1 (within 30 days and then every year), Hazmat Universal Waste Training- Short Version (within 30 days and then every year), Option STOP Training (within 30 days), any additional certifications or training as required by department.  Must be current on annual safety training within 30 days of hire.
Recommended:
 High School Diploma or GED.  Computer, math, and customer service skills preferred.
