Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Eyewear Consultant to join our vibrant optical team. In this role, you will be the face of our optical retail environment, providing expert guidance on eyewear selection, fittings, and lens options. Your enthusiasm for optics and exceptional customer service will help clients find the perfect eyewear solutions that enhance their vision and confidence. You will also support clinical functions, including basic eye assessments and laboratory tasks, ensuring a seamless experience from selection to prescription fulfillment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine retail sales expertise with clinical knowledge in a fast-paced, patient-focused setting. Duties Assist customers in selecting eyewear frames and lenses tailored to their needs, preferences, and prescriptions Conduct eyewear fittings, adjustments, and frame modifications to ensure optimal comfort and style Provide detailed explanations of lens options, including coatings, tints, and specialty prescriptions such as those for pediatrics or senior care Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems and cash registers accurately during transactions Support laboratory processes such as spectacle lens dispensing and optical laboratory tasks to ensure quality standards are met Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling patient records and medical information in compliance with HIPAA and health regulation policies Assist in basic eye assessments including vital signs, physiology checks, and preliminary vision screenings using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or similar platforms Support the clinic team with medical terminology understanding, ophthalmology procedures, and adherence to aseptic techniques when necessary Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries about optical products, health regulations policies, and insurance billing procedures Experience Previous retail sales experience with a focus on eyewear or optical products preferred Laboratory experience related to spectacle lens fabrication or optical laboratory operations highly desirable Knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and basic medical terminology related to eye health Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms Experience working within healthcare settings that adhere to HIPAA standards and medical confidentiality policies Retail management experience or familiarity with POS systems and retail math calculations beneficial Understanding of health regulation policies including state healthcare regulations and medical billing practices Experience in pediatric or senior care environments is a plus but not required Join us in delivering exceptional optical care with energy and professionalism!
