Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and professional Optician/Front Desk Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This role combines essential customer service responsibilities with optical expertise, ensuring patients receive exceptional care and accurate eyewear services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in optometry or ophthalmology, along with excellent communication skills and a passion for helping others. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently. Assist patients in selecting eyewear, including fitting, adjusting, and dispensing spectacle lenses and frames. Maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Manage retail sales transactions using POS systems and cash registers while providing excellent customer service. Ensure compliance with state healthcare regulations, medical billing procedures, and clinic policies related to medical coding and documentation. Support laboratory functions by performing eyewear frame adjustments, lens fitting, and optical laboratory tasks with precision. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient flow and effective communication regarding treatment plans. Requirements Prior experience in ophthalmology or optometry clinics is highly desirable; retail optometry experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of optics, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vision-related concepts such as spectacle lens dispensing. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or similar platforms for managing patient records efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and health regulation policies governing healthcare practices. Ability to perform optical frame adjustments accurately while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to patients of diverse backgrounds.
