We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Optician who can take ownership of our optical — from frame styling and lens recommendations to measurements, lab orders, and final dispense — and who is also willing to support the front desk when the team needs it. This is not a retail sales position and it is not entry-level. Why You'll Love Working Here Competitive pay: $18-22/hour based on experience and certification Monday-Friday schedule (no evenings, no weekends) Supportive, family-like team environment in a private practice — not a corporate chain Health insurance contribution after 90 days Paid time off and holidays Free annual eye exam and employee discounts on eyewear Continuing education support toward ABO certification Exposure to specialty products and a specialty-focused practice What You'll Do Optical (primary): Guide patients through frame selection based on prescription, face shape, and lifestyle Recommend appropriate lens designs, materials, and treatments (progressives, high-index, polarized, photochromic, anti-reflective) Take and verify all optical measurements — PDs, seg heights, OC heights, vertex Enter and track lab orders; follow up on jobs in progress and communicate delays to patients Verify vision insurance benefits (EyeMed, VSP, Spectera, Davis Vision) and clearly explain out-of-pocket costs Dispense finished eyewear, adjust for fit, and confirm patient satisfaction Troubleshoot non-adapts and coordinate remakes with the doctor and lab Perform frame adjustments and minor repairs Assist with frame board merchandising, inventory, and vendor reps Support contact lens ordering, verification, and patient pickup Front desk (as needed): Check patients in and out and verify insurance information when the front desk is backed up Answer phones, schedule appointments, and handle patient inquiries Collect copays and process payments Maintain accurate patient records and HIPAA compliance in

Crystal PM What We're Looking For Required:

Minimum 2 years of hands-on optician/dispensing experience Ability to independently take PDs, seg heights, OC heights, and vertex measurements Working knowledge of lens materials, designs, and coatings Experience verifying and applying vision insurance benefits (EyeMed, VSP, Spectera) Comfortable adjusting, repairing, and fitting frames Strong patient communication — able to explain lens options clearly without pressure selling Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a busy office Reliable, punctual, and dependable — we count on you to be there

Strongly Preferred:

ABO certification (or

ABO/NCLE

) Experience with Crystal PM or similar optometry/ophthalmology EHR systems Contact lens ordering and inventory experience Familiarity with specialty products such as Neurolens or myopia management lenses Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
