The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while technical excellent and exacting. This role requires a strong understanding of optical products, the ability to manage medical records, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Clear communication and excitement about eyewear are all very positive signs. Duties Assist patients in selecting the appropriate eyewear based on their prescription and lifestyle needs. Conduct fittings and adjustments of eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure proper fit and comfort. Maintain accurate medical records, including patient prescriptions and history, while adhering to HIPAA guidelines. Manage inventory of optical products and supplies, ensuring that the retail space is well-stocked and organized. Collaborate with healthcare providers to verify prescriptions and discuss any necessary adjustments or concerns. Provide education to patients regarding proper eyewear care and usage. Handle medical billing processes as needed, ensuring accuracy in transactions. Support laboratory functions by preparing orders for lenses and other optical components. Engage in retail sales activities, promoting additional products or services that may benefit patients. Requirements Previous experience as an Optician or in a similar role is preferred. Certification strongly encouraged Knowledge of optical systems, including lens types, frames, and fitting techniques. Familiarity with medical records management and billing processes is advantageous. Ability to take vital signs if required by specific practice settings (e.g., pediatrics). Strong retail sales skills with a focus on customer satisfaction. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations.
