We are a full-service, privately owned optometry practice in Richmond and we have an opening for an optician to work alongside our talented and amazing staff and doctors. This is a 4-day per week , full-time position with health insurance, dental insurance, paid leave, and 401k matching. Duties Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear by conducting thorough fittings, adjustments, and lens selections based on prescriptions and individual needs. Dispense spectacle lenses and coordinate with optical laboratories to ensure precise fabrication and delivery of eyewear products. Maintain detailed medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA, medical coding standards, and clinical confidentiality policies. Perform eyewear frame adjustments, repairs, and maintenance to ensure optimal fit and comfort for patients. Stay informed about current health regulation policies, state healthcare regulations, and optics industry standards to uphold compliance at all times. Collaborate with retail sales teams to promote optical products, including frames, lenses, and accessories, enhancing the overall patient experience. Requirements Valid state licensure as an Optician with comprehensive knowledge of ophthalmology practice. Prior experience in retail opticianry is helpful but not required. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient interactions and medical records. Familiarity with optical laboratory processes including spectacle lens dispensing and eyewear frame adjustment techniques. Knowledge of health regulation policies such as HIPAA and clinic safety protocols. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and seniors. Basic math skills necessary for measurements, prescriptions calculations, and inventory management. Ability to adhere strictly to clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive patient information effectively.
