Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optician, where you will play a vital role in enhancing patient vision and overall eye health. This energetic position combines technical expertise with exceptional customer service, allowing you to guide patients through their optical needs while ensuring accurate measurements, lens selections, and frame fittings. As an integral part of our clinic, you will work closely with optometrist and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive eye care in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. Your dedication will help improve the quality of life for individuals of all ages, from pediatrics to senior care. Duties Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses that meet their prescription needs and personal style preferences. Take precise measurements of patients' eyes, including pupillary distance and other vital signs relevant to optical prescriptions. Conduct thorough laboratory procedures such as quality checks to ensure optimal product delivery. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Crystal PM, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on proper lens care, frame adjustments, and the importance of regular eye exams. Support retail sales efforts by promoting eyewear products, accessories, and vision care services to maximize patient satisfaction and clinic revenue. Adhere to aseptic techniques during any clinical procedures and assist in maintaining a clean, safe environment following infection control protocols. Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare providers on medical coding, billing processes, and documentation related to optical services. Qualifications Proven experience as an Optician or in a related optical or retail environment with strong retail math skills. Knowledge of optometric principles, anatomy of the eye, physiology concepts, and medical terminology relevant to eye care. Familiarity with laboratory techniques, experience with optical equipment is highly desirable. Ability to operate EMR systems like efficiently while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Excellent communication skills for explaining complex information clearly to patients of all ages—including pediatrics and senior care populations. Basic understanding of medical billing practices and medical coding related to optical services. Experience working in clinic settings or healthcare environments involving vital signs assessment and medical records management is preferred. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
