Optical Associate / Optician / Technician Tacoma Eye at Westgate We will train the right candidate (we need 1 year as a medical receptionist or medical assistant) Tacoma Eye is a patient-focused optometry practice serving the Tacoma community — and we're growing. We're known for our friendliness, our attention to detail, and for making every patient feel genuinely cared for, from the moment they walk in the door to the moment they pick out their new glasses. We're looking for a reliable, motivated person to join our team and build a career in patient care and optical. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with people, is eager to build new skills, thrives in a team setting, and takes real pride in delivering outstanding care — whether that's helping a patient find frames they love or making sure a nervous first-time visitor feels at ease. No optometry experience is required — we provide comprehensive training in optical sales, optician skills, and clinical support, and we're genuinely excited to develop the right candidate from the ground up. We do prefer candidates who've worked in a medical receptionist role and are comfortable interacting with patients, even outside an optometry setting. Responsibilities Help patients choose frames and lenses in our optical showroom, offering honest, personalized recommendations Develop optician skills including taking measurements, educating patients on lens options, and adjusting eyewear for a proper fit Deliver warm, professional customer service that reflects our commitment to patient-centered care Assist our doctors and team as a technician trainee — pretesting patients and helping manage patient flow Support coworkers as needed to keep daily operations running smoothly Help keep our office clean, organized, and welcoming for every patient who walks through our doors Qualifications Punctual, reliable, and hardworking Positive, approachable personality with strong people skills Eager to learn and grow into new skills A genuine desire to help others Strong communication abilities and attention to detail Schedule & Pay Part-time, approximately 16+ hours per week. We're open Tuesday through Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday.
