The Practice:
We are a team of dedicated Ophthalmologists and Optometrists who exist to meet the ophthalmic needs of the people of Northeastern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. BayCare Clinic Eye Specialists offers more specialty services than any other provider in northeastern Wisconsin and we are the largest Ophthalmology practice north of Milwaukee, with five locations in northeastern Wisconsin. We have a highly trained, collaborative team of ophthalmologists, most of whom specialize in one aspect of eye health. We have cornea, glaucoma, retina, pediatric and oculoplastic specialists.

The Job:
Acknowledge patients as they enter the optical department. Calls patients when eyewear is ready. Effectively analyzes and interprets prescriptions, understands patient needs and promotes optimum comfort, visual efficiency and cosmetic acceptability. Identifies irregularities by applying knowledge of ophthalmic terminology to ensure prescription is correct. Recognizes and shares the limitations of the prescription with the patient as it relates to the practical application of the product by determining the relationship between prescription and the patient's needs. Reviews and verifies exiting patient records, assess previous eyewear use, identifies visual tasks to fulfill patient needs and wants. Works with and educates patients to determine appropriate frame and lens type. Works with vendors to place orders as necessary. Accurately measures facial, ocularly and frame; evaluates results to enhance proper visual performance and appearance. Demonstrates products to patients, explaining lens features and frame types to meet patient needs and wants. Demonstrates required skills and trains patients in the proper use, care, insertion, and removal process for contact lenses. Verifies orders to ensure correct eyewear is dispensed. As necessary, makes adjustments of eyewear in relation to the patients' head and face. Properly documents deliveries and accurately maintains patient files and sales records. Submits billings to 3 party payers as necessary. Assists in merchandising, cleaning and restocking. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to meet the needs of the organization. Respects and maintains confidentiality. Works in a safe, compliant and ethical manner at all times.
The Requirements:
A minimum of a high school diploma. ABO Certification or related experience preferred. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary. Basic computer skills needed.
