Job Description

Job Summary:
Dispensing opticians fit eyeglasses and contact lenses, following prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interpretation of prescriptions written by ophthalmologists and optometrists. Collection of eye measurements including pupillary distance and segment height for progressive and bifocal lenses. Helping clients select eyeglasses and lens treatments including tints and coatings. Creating work orders for lab technicians to ensure delivery of the proper lenses. Verify glasses and notify patients for dispensing. Adjusting glasses to ensure a proper fit. Repairing broken frames. Educating clients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care. Keeping track of orders, prescriptions, and inventory. Calculate insurance co-pays based on insurance eligibility. Maintain displays of optical merchandise. Maintain compliance with the organization's confidentiality policy in accordance to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Perform other duties as assigned. Education and/or
Work Experience Requirements:
High school graduate/GED Must believe in health care with dignity for all A strong commitment to customer care and confidence in dealing with people Sales skills and the ability to inspire customer loyalty Ability to communicate with people and understand their problems. Proficiency in language and grammar
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Position requires manual dexterity for operating standard office equipment. Hearing must be within range of normal human conversation. Position requires attention to detail to ensure patients receive the correct optical items. Position functions within a normal office environment. Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 6:00pm
