Licensed Doctor of Optometry School-Based Pediatric Optometrist - Phoenix, AZ Part-time to Full-time • School Calendar Schedule Make a meaningful difference in children's lives — without sacrificing your own. We're a small, family-owned private practice seeking a compassionate optometrist to deliver on-site vision care to school-aged children across Phoenix. This position is designed with real flexibility: work 2-4 days per week, follow the school calendar with summers and major holidays off, and earn a competitive daily rate with production-based bonus potential. If you have young kids of your own, this role was practically built for you. You'll typically wrap up your clinic day before your own children are out of school, share every major school break and summer with your family, and still generate a strong income doing meaningful work. About the Role This position is part-time to full-time, with the expectation of 2-4 clinic days per week during the academic year. You'll follow the school calendar, with summers and major holidays off. Compensation is structured as a daily rate with bonus opportunities tied to patient volume and production. You'll work within a mobile school clinic model, traveling to school sites throughout Phoenix to provide on-site vision exams to elementary and middle school students. Charting is done on paper during the school day, with data entry into our EHR system at the end of each clinic day. What You'll Do Perform comprehensive eye exams for school-aged children Detect and manage common pediatric conditions including refractive errors, amblyopia, and strabismus Provide referrals for complex conditions requiring further evaluation Educate school staff and families on vision health and eye care Complete paper charts during clinic hours; enter data into EHR at end of day Collaborate with school staff and internal team members to run smooth, efficient clinic days What We're Looking For Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution Pediatric experience preferred Strong communication skills with children, families, and school staff Self-directed and comfortable working independently in a school-based setting Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a strong plus Must be based in or able to commute to Phoenix, AZ Compensation & Benefits Competitive daily rate, commensurate with experience and days worked Production-based bonuses — earn more when patient volume grows 401(k) with 3% employer match Health, dental, and vision insurance available Summers and major school holidays off, following the school calendar Done with your workday before your kids get home from school No evenings, no weekends
