Responsibilities Perform detailed ophthalmic patient examinations utilizing advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and ophthalmic diagnostic tools such as tonometry and ophthalmoscopes. Diagnose eye conditions and disease states, including refractive errors, glaucoma, cataracts, and other ocular health issues. Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing corrective lenses, contact lenses fitting, and medical treatments aligned with best practices. Conduct ophthalmic consultations to discuss diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive eye care strategies with patients. Operate medical equipment safely and accurately while maintaining proper aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Maintain precise medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Communicate effectively with patients of all ages, providing education on eye health, disease management, and lifestyle adjustments to optimize visual wellness. Qualifications Valid licensure as an Optometrist with relevant state licensing requirements. Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice with proficiency in optical experience and ophthalmic diagnosis. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy of the eye, and medical terminology related to eye health. Hands-on experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment, tonometry devices, and other medical equipment used in eye examinations. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient information and medical records management. Ability to perform comprehensive ophthalmic patient examinations including vital signs assessment and contact lens fitting procedures. Excellent client communication skills combined with a customer service-oriented approach to foster trust and ensure positive patient experiences. Knowledge of disease state management strategies for common ocular conditions and the ability to coordinate care effectively.
