M-F 8am-4:30pm, excluding federal holidays, no weekends, no OT Additional Details about the position: Potentially managing complex conditions: Urgent issues which require medical/therapeutic management, traumas, post ops, glaucoma, macular degeneration, uveitis, diabetic retinopathy. Lash epilation, punctal dilation/irrigation, corneal and conjunctival FB removals, bandage CLs, pressure patch.

Official Scope:

Performing comprehensive eye examinations and refractions. Diagnosing and managing ocular diseases, visual disorders, and injuries. Prescribing corrective lenses and therapeutic medications as permitted by licensure. Performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as visual fields, fundus photography, and OCT. Documenting all patient encounters in the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) or other IHS electronic health record systems. Providing patient education and preventive eye health counseling. Coordinating with other medical providers for referrals, co-management, and follow-up care.

Support staff:

Currently one eye doctor on staff, one receptionist, one tech in optical. There is no support staff for the exams. Optometrist does every test from start to finish: calling patients back to the rooms Acuities Lensometer IOP field testing OCT Optos Autorefractor FDT There is no ophthalmology on site. Nearest one is over 100 miles away.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical experience preferred.

LICENSURE REQUIREMENT

Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited institution. Current, unrestricted license to practice optometry in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
