The Optometrist will perform routine and medical eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular conditions, prescribe corrective lenses, and collaborate with healthcare staff to enhance residents' visual health and quality of life. Optometrist Responsibilities Conducting comprehensive eye examinations for nursing home residents. Diagnosing and managing common eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, and other age-related ocular diseases. Prescribing eyeglasses as needed. Maintaining accurate electronic medical records and complete documentation promptly. Educating patients on eye health, disease prevention, and treatment compliance. Follow VA policies, HIPAA regulations, and federal healthcare standards. Optometrist Qualifications Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution. Current state optometry license in good standing. Experience working with geriatric populations preferred. Strong clinical diagnostic and patient care skills. Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred. General Information Part-time flexible schedule. Per patient
