The ideal candidate will provide primary vision care, including comprehensive eye exams, diagnosis, and treatment of eye diseases, and vision correction prescriptions. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations
- Diagnose and treat visual conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism
- Detect eye diseases like glaucoma and macular degeneration
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids
- Provide pre
- and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgeries
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists when surgical interventions are necessary
- Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record systems like Epic
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited school of optometry
- State licensure to practice optometry
- Proficiency in conducting eye exams and diagnosing visual conditions
- Knowledge of ocular physiology and anatomy
- Familiarity with medical records management and HIPAA regulations
- Experience with optical sales and patient care
- Understanding of aseptic techniques in an optometric setting
