Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for an Optometrist with a Special Interest in Retina South Sound, Washington — Puyallup, University Place, and Gig Harbor Cascade Eye & Skin Centers, P.C. is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and clinically skilled optometrist with a strong interest in retinal disease and medical eye care. Residency training is preferred, particularly in ocular disease or medical optometry. This is an excellent opportunity for an optometrist who is confident performing thorough peripheral retinal examinations and enjoys caring for patients with retinal conditions. You will work closely with experienced retina specialists in a collaborative, patient-centered environment, with access to advanced diagnostic technology and a large, established patient base. Experienced medical optometrists and residency-trained new graduates are encouraged to apply. About Cascade Eye & Skin Centers Established in 1991, Cascade Eye & Skin Centers is a multidisciplinary group practice with more than 40 medical professionals providing ophthalmology, dermatology, and aesthetic services. Our ophthalmology team includes comprehensive ophthalmologists, retina, glaucoma and cornea specialists, oculoplastic surgeons, and optometrists. As one of the largest practices of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, Cascade serves a market area of more than one million people through seven locations in Pierce, Thurston, and King counties. Our surgeons perform more than 2,000 procedures annually in our physician-owned, fully accredited, two-room ambulatory surgery center. Position Highlights Four-day workweek with no nights or weekends Opportunity to work closely with experienced retina specialists Large, established medical and surgical patient base Dedicated ophthalmic technicians State-of-the-art retinal imaging and diagnostic equipment Collaborative MD/OD practice environment Full-time and part-time opportunities Potential to work at two of our South Sound locations Competitive base salary plus production bonus Clinical Responsibilities Evaluate and manage patients with retinal disease in collaboration with our retina specialists Perform comprehensive medical eye examinations, including careful peripheral retinal evaluations Identify and appropriately triage urgent retinal findings Interpret OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, and other ophthalmic testing Provide preoperative and postoperative care for retinal surgery patients Monitor patients with chronic retinal and ocular conditions Educate patients about their diagnoses, treatment plans, warning symptoms, and long-term disease management Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and clinical staff to provide coordinated, seamless patient care Qualifications Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution Current Washington State optometry license or eligibility for licensure Residency training preferred Strong interest or experience in medical retina and ocular disease Proficiency in dilated fundus examinations and evaluation of the peripheral retina Sound clinical judgment and the ability to recognize urgent retinal pathology Commitment to high-quality, compassionate patient care Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary practice Compensation Base salary starting at $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus a production-based bonus Four-day workweek for all providers Benefits Full-Time Medical insurance fully paid for the employee Dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching Continuing medical education allowance Paid time off Generous schedule of paid holidays
