Opens a new window. Fabricate simple prosthetic/orthotic devices to provide maximum medical improvement for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Assist higher level prosthetic/orthotic technicians and orthotist. This is an entry level position which provides on-the-job training. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.

Detailed responsibilities:

• CASTS
• Fabricate and finish plastic and/or metal prosthetics/orthotics for upper extremity, lower extremity, and spinal orthoses

COST CONTROL

• Utilize parts and supplies in a manner that maximizes efficient and cost-effective production of prosthetic/orthotic devices

SUPPLIES

• Assist in ordering, care, maintenance, and utilization of department equipment, supplies, and inventories

EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES

• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote workplace safety

DEVELOPMENT

• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

• Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols

• Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
