• $3,000 after successful completion of orientation and probation; $2,500 after 12 months; $2,500 after 18 months.

Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesContributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and ads to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

Based on assessment of physical emotional bio-physical and spiritual needs provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Incorporates the principles of patient-centered care.

Communicates patient's clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format. Clearly and accurately documents pertinent information in the patient's medical record. Consistently demonstrates effective documentation practices and develops strategies to ensure complete documentation of patient care.

Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families. Provides basic patient comfort measures during procedures. When necessary provides environmental support to expedite timely patient admission or transfer. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve the environment of care.

Provides for the emotional support of patients and families during the crisis of illness. Demonstrates patient/family advocacy.

Delivers expert paramedic care in ambulances to multiple patient types to include adult subspecialties and pediatrics.

Collaborates with on line medical control physicians to manage the patient care of complex patients in transport.

Participates in the orientation program for new staff.

As part of the program's safety management system provides feedback and participates in program safety initiatives.

Participates in MedSTAR Transport safety program.

Administers and maintains pharmacologic agents and intravenous fluids during inter hospital transports.

Ensures safe operations during ambulance related activities in coordination with the Emergency Vehicle Operator.

Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.

Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

Minimal QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED requiredSuccessful completion of an approved EMT-Paramedic course requiredCompletion of an approved emergency vehicle driving course prior to release from orientation requiredExperience1-2 years experience as a National Registry Paramedic (NRP) preferredLicenses and CertificationsNREMT

• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic requiredParamedic
• Certified in the District of Columbia within 30 Days requiredParamedic
• Licensed in Maryland within 30 Days requiredCPR
• Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days requiredAdditional unit/specialty certifications .
