Additional Information:
This MaineHealth EMS Base is located at MaineHealth Stephens Hospital in Norway and covers 9 surrounding towns including 2 major ski resorts, as well as Paramedic Intercept Services for several outlying communities. We average around 5,500 calls per year, with about 70% of those being 911, and the other 30% being transfers. The base runs 3 crews 24/7 and we just added a 4 th crew on 12 hour days. This EMS team works very closely with the ER staff at MaineHealth Stephens Hospital. Every ambulance has a Stryker Power Load, Stryker Power Cot, Lucas Device, Zoll X Series Monitor, GlideScope Video Laryngoscope, Sage Mats with Air Pump, and other cutting-edge equipment. This base runs several shift structures ranging from 12, to 24-hours in length and are as follows: 24-Hour shift from 8A- 8A. 16-Hour shift from 4P
- 8A. 12-Hour Shifts from either 7P/A
- 7A/P, 8A/P
- 8P/A, and 9A
- 9P.
Summary:
The EMT- Basic role provides basic life support during emergency pre-hospital and interfacility transfer care to patients when indicated by the patient's injury or illness in accordance with state and local protocols.
