Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality patient care using established prehospital care protocols, clinical judgment, and advanced life support skills. Serve as a resource, mentor, and preceptor for EMS providers and new staff members. Develop and support continuing education, quality improvement initiatives, and medical command services. Build and maintain strong relationships with EMS agencies through outreach, clinical collaboration, and community engagement. Participate in performance improvement activities, project work, committees, and community health initiatives. Communicate effectively with patients, providers, command physicians, and interdisciplinary teams while maintaining accurate documentation. Monitor equipment functionality, report issues appropriately, and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and hospital policies Provide feedback on patient care, identify opportunities for improvement, and help develop corrective action plans when needed. Demonstrate professionalism, strong problem-solving abilities, independent decision-making, and a positive representation of UPMC. Meet regularly with EMS providers, support the ongoing development of the Paramedic Response Team, and contribute to innovative EMS programs and services. Complete required education and training to maintain medical command and professional competencies.
