Join Our Team as an AirMed Paramedic at Shannon Medical Center! At Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, we're seeking a highly skilled AirMed Paramedic to join our dynamic team! If you're passionate about delivering high-quality, life-saving care in emergency and critical transport settings, this is the role for you. As an AirMed Paramedic, you'll play a crucial part in providing immediate, expert medical care to patients while safely transporting them via air to critical care facilities. In this vital role, you'll work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, responding to emergency situations, and using your expertise to make quick, life-saving decisions. What You'll Do:
Flight Readiness & Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure flight readiness by stocking the aircraft at shift start and after each use, while monitoring, operating, and maintaining all air transport equipment-including ventilators, defibrillators, and advanced monitors-in accordance with hospital protocols
Patient Care & Medical Interventions:
Deliver compassionate, high-quality emergency care during air transport by assessing patient conditions, administering medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring clinical status in real-time, and making critical decisions to stabilize and support patients of all ages
Safety, Protocols & Procedures:
Ensure safe and compliant patient transport by securing patients properly, following all flight and medical protocols, proactively preventing incidents, and promptly reporting any safety concerns or events in accordance with department policies.
Maintain Annual Competencies:
Complete quarterly live or mannequin intubations, annual simulation lab sessions, clinical rotations, and invasive procedure labs as required by the medical director and/or program director.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with medical teams to ensure smooth patient care transitions and provide compassionate emotional support and clear communication to patients and families throughout transport.
Documentation & Records:
Accurately document all patient care, interventions, and medication administration-including dosages and outcomes-in compliance with hospital policies and legal standards. What we're looking for: Successful completion of an approved EMT-Paramedic program Over 3 years experience in an Advanced Life Support (ALS) position or Critical Care setting Flight/Air medical transport experience is preferred Current EMT-P license from Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate MedTrans Corporation New Hire Academy, within 6 months of hire Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, within 1 year of hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification, within 1 year of hire Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification, within 1 year of hire Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC), within 2 years of hire Pediatric Transport Course (PCCTC), within 2 years of hire
