Summary Job summary:
The Patient and Family Specialist provides direct patient and family services including educational, advocacy, hospitality and referral services in efforts to reduce anxiety, improve coping, maximize the utilization of health care and improve outcomes. This position requires excellent customer service and assessment and active listening skills, is knowledgeable of internal and external resources and is able to help patients and families obtain and understand credible cancer information to be able to manage the disease and treatment. All efforts are to achieve the objectives of improving the patient and family experience at Moffitt Cancer Center and improve patient safety, quality and satisfaction. This position collaborates with stakeholders to create and implement processes and programs to improve the accessibility to patient and family services, including access to patient education resources. This position involves daily direct patient and family member contact in the Patient Libraries and Welcome Centers and integrates Moffitt Cancer Center service, diversity, and patient and family centered care philosophies in all program development and implantation aimed at enhancing the patient and family experience.Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree Minimum Experience Required:
Two (2) years' of experience in customer service, social service, or healthcare is required. In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree may be considered with zero experience.Additional Skills/ Specialized Training Required:
- Excellent verbal, written and listening skills
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access, and web navigation
- Managing self: personal organization, time management, multi-tasking and resolving issues.
Communicating:
