Organization:
CPMC-California Pacific Med Center Van Ness Position Overview:
Responsible for insurance verification and eligibility, assessment of patient financial requirements, counseling patients on insurance benefits and co-payments, and obtaining preauthorization for all complex services. Works closely with department staff, physicians and practice staff to facilitate timely start and continuity of services. Works in conjunction with managed care and departments to maintain accuracy in clinical and billing information. Requires detailed knowledge of insurance benefits and facility & professional managed care contracting.

EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Preferred:
College Degree Required:
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
Required:
Insurance benefits, authorization & contracting
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN
2 years of complex insurance authorizations, detailed benefits for facility & professional charges and managed care contracting.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity of medical terminology/anatomy. Verbal and written communication skills for regular contact with physicians, employees, patients and insurance personnel. Organizational skills. Ability to work with others in a flexible, cooperative manner. Computer data entry skills to enter patient and authorization information. #LI-TM1

Pay Range is $38.20 to $53.48 / hour The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled.
