The Americans with Disabilities Act was passed in 1990, but many businesses ignore this important law to the detriment of the disabled community. What many people do not understand is that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was designed to be enforced by those with disabilities themselves. The DOJ can file lawsuits against larger entities such as large franchises, for example, but they cannot investigate every single local retailer, and that's where the individual comes in. This job focuses on people with mobility disabilities, anyone who has problems walking, standing or sitting and even includes people who have relatively "minor" issues such as arthritis.
