Job Summary:
Facilitates the safest and most efficient movements of patients and their belongings throughout the Medical Center. Displays courtesy and professionalism in delivering patient- and family-centered care and customer service.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Provides direct support to patient care by safely transporting patients as directed by licensed personnel. Indirectly supports patient care by transporting medication, blood products and specimens as directed by licensed personnel. Maintains patient and employee safety throughout transports. Effectively communicates with nursing staff related to transport tasks. Effectively communicates with patients/families. Assists nursing staff with maintaining environment and monitoring supply expiration dates. Ensures the proper handling of patient equipment and supplies, including the handling of oxygen for patients that require such service. Maintains the cleanliness of patient transport equipment. Utilizes proper body mechanics when assisting/transferring patients to their mode of transport. Informs the nursing unit/procedure area of the patient's arrival and departure. Maintains knowledge and competency in the use of the computer transport system. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.Required Minimum Education:
High School Diploma / GED General or Accredited Program Health Science-Preferred Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. BLS-I- Basic Life Support
- Instructor or BLS
- Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS
- Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
