Full Job Description Major Responsibilities:
Identify proper patient to be transported by checking armband 1)Make sure mode of transport is appropriate to patient's condition 2)Make sure proper precautions are taken for each patient, i.e., oxygen, foley catheter, chest tube, etc. 3)Make sure patient is properly covered to protect their privacy 4)Instruct and help new transport staff so they are properly trained Printing out of patient hand off communication worksheets 5)Make sure any pertinent patient information is relayed to supervisor or proper department/technician 6)Make sure supervisor or departments are aware of any delays in getting patients 7)Demonstrate a knowledge of institutional policies regarding patient care, fire, safety, infection control, etc. Review department manuals and sign-off supplement 8)Make sure carts are clean and sheets are in place at all times. Report any cart or wheelchair that is not working properly and in need of repair 9)Should be able to deal with stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. 10)Instruct and help new transport staff so they are properly trainedEducation/Experience Required:
High school graduate orGED Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Some computer knowledgeCPR Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift and transfer patients
- Skills in handling and operation of a variety of transportation equipment.
- Ability to lift 100 pounds or more with assistance.
- Ability to tolerate prolonged walking or standing.
- Ability to work weekend, holidays and different shifts in order to accommodate staffing needs.
