Job Description

  • Job Summary:
  • Under the direction of the supervisor or lead person, the Transporter will be responsible for transporting patients and visitors of all ages to and from various clinics and nursing units within the hospital as requested. This role reports directly to the Patient Escort Supervisor.
  • Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Adhere to hospital policies for properly identifying patients using 2 patient identifiers.
Follow hand-off communication policies. Maintain patient safety by securing patients correctly on transfer devices. Use proper body mechanics when transporting patients. Have knowledge of hospital/clinic layout and choose the safest and most expedient route for patient delivery. Maintain direct communication with the patient during transportation to ensure comfort and security. Prioritize transport requests. Assist in mail collection and/or delivery when duties allow.
  • Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. CPR certification required. Basic computer skills. Effective communication skills, a solid team player, and a commitment to providing excellent patient service and professionalism.
  • Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • The work involves various physical activities, including standing and walking for extended periods, bending, stooping, and lifting.
The work environment may be physically confining. Visual acuity is necessary for specific activities. Must have normal hearing. Ability to work shifts on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
