Carson City Operating Room Part Time Variable Shift Summary The orderly functions as a supporting member of the surgical services team by performing various tasks which include environmental maintenance, assistance with material management, pre and post procedure cleaning, assistance with patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and a variety of other duties.
Qualifications Required:
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers within 90 days of employment
Preferred:
Previous medical field experience Essential Functions Transport patients within the facility, ensuring patients' safety Assist in transferring patients from bed to stretcher, stretcher to OR table, etc. Assist with operating room turnovers including sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting and gathering linens and other surgical equipment Clean anesthesia machines and change circuits between cases. Run machine checks as directed. Daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of designated areas as assigned. Gather and set up equipment for cases, clean, breakdown, and store equipment after cases. Assists with routine care, maintenance, and troubleshooting of designated equipment and devices Ensure all three peri operative departments are properly stocked with materials and equipment Assists with limited patient care in the operating, recovery, and procedure rooms as needed, specified, and directed under the supervision of a registered nurse. Scrub into total joint surgeries and hold limbs/retractors as needed Stat transport of time sensitive specimens to lab or pathology Clean gurneys in pre op and PACU Assists with periop operative documentation such as outdates and temperature/humidity logs Ensure gas cylinders are functional, full and available Ensure equipment rooms are organized and stocked Assist central sterile processing Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of and compliance with safety policies and procedures, recognizes safety hazards, and initiate appropriate corrective and/or preventative measure Performs other duties as assigned
