Job Description
Position Summary This Position exists to safely transport patients, bodies and/or materials, supplies and equipment safely from one section of the Hospital to another. Transports patients from one area of the hospital to another, as assigned/directed. Transports materials, specimens, supplies and equipment from one area of the hospital to another, as assigned/directed. Transfers the bodies of expired patients to the Morgue. Demonstrates safety awareness through daily equipment check and reporting of defective/broken equipment. Demonstrates couteous behavior to patients, visitors and staff. Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures safe-keeping of the patient's Medical Record (or any portion of the Medical Record, e.g. lab results, etc.) during transport. Communicates important information to appropriate Nursing Personnel. Demonstrates knowledge of infectrion Control practices. Completes annual Mandatory Class update package. Responds to pages/callsin a timely manner and remains accessible at all times while on duty. Maintains accurate and omplete call logs and submits to Department Supervisor. Keeps to assigned rounds' schedule when assigned to Materials Transport. Safeguards Materials transport cart and all items contained therein. Does not leave cart unatended. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor and/or Nursing Patient Care Manager/ Administrative Supervisor. Demonstrates safety awareness through identification of patient by name and by checking patient identification bracelet. Demonstrates safety awareness through reporting unsafe conditions such as wet floors, obstructed hallways, chocked doors, etc. Demonstrates safety awareness through appropriate starage of strecher and wheelchairs in designated areas. Demonstrates safety awareness through utilization of proper body mechanics and lifting techniques. Demonstrates safety awareness through requesting assistance when appropiate, based on patient's condition. Formal Education and Job-Related Experience This position requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years job-related experience. Desired (not required) criteria include: Nursing Assistant experience preferred. Mon Sat Sun - 7am - 3pm
