Job Description
Hospital Attendant PT/OT- Full Time Day Shift (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM) Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, our Hospital Attendants are valuable members of our team, who attend to the daily living and personal hygiene needs of patients in order to make patients more comfortable. They may also devote considerable time to housekeeping and cleaning tasks related to patient care and to the transporting of patients. Qualified candidates should demonstrate excellent intrapersonal skills and time management skills. They should have attention to detail and be able to work with all levels of the organization. Duties of a Hospital Attendant 1-Rehabilitation Aide may include the following but are not limited to: Assists Occupational and Physical Therapists and/or Therapy Assistants with treatment of patients in the outpatient and inpatient setting as necessary. Identifies changes in status of a patient prior to or during treatment and reports that change immediately to the appropriate staff for evaluation. Assists with maintenance range of motion exercises and exercises to maintain strength and endurance in patients without related pathology. May assist with mobilization/ambulation of patients. Prepares superficial hot and cold applications. Prepare treatment area for each patient's therapy; keeps the treatment area clean and organized. Orders depleted supplies. Maintains logs. Transports patients safely to and from therapy. Keeps equipment closets organized, stocked, and clean. Changes plinths and stacks linens, as needed. Cleans and disinfects equipment as needed. May issue and provide minor repair of equipment and devices. Place work order for equipment that needs to be fixed. BME order for equipment that needs to be serviced. Follows National Quality Forum's Safe Practices for Hand Hygiene. Follows HIPPA policy. Performs clerical duties as required such as answering the phone, billing and filing, filling out insurance forms and other paperwork. Inputs data into computer as needed. Travel between Main Hospital, 33 Research Way and 14 Technology Park.
Qualifications Required :
Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor. Must be able to speak, read and write English. Candidate must be able to travel between main hospital, 33 Research Way, and 14 Technology Drive.Preferred :
Previous experience working in a hospital setting and/or in the hospital industry. Possess excellent intrapersonal skills, time management skills, have attention to detail and be able to work with all levels of the organization.Special Notes :

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references. Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen
