SummaryTransports patients and assists with direct patient care and procedures that have been ordered by a physician. Performs guest assistance duties such as escorting patients and assisting clinical staff with transferring patients from bed to transport equipment. Job DutiesTransports patients to and from hospital departments for radiology testing. Assists in transport of patients eligible for discharge. Uses the hospital telephone system as it relates to transport tracking in order to accept transport orders. Assists nurses and technologists in moving patients to and from bed, stretcher, and/or wheelchair. Provides directional information to guests and visitors and patient location to patient's family members and guests. Helps patients change their clothes, as requested. Retrieves, cleans, and stores all unused patient transport equipment. Supplies the department with clean linen and takes soiled linen to the laundry. Replaces oxygen tanks, as required.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GED Less than 1 year Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to multi-task and take initiative. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships. American Heart Association Basic Life Support

- patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
