A Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor develops customized exercise and fitness programs for clients. Reviews health and fitness goals, teaches correct and safe exercise technique, monitors progress and provides encouragement for clients. Leads fitness and exercise classes at a community center, club or pool. Teaches aerobics, water, strength building or other exercises and maintains equipment.

Job Description

Overview:
Under the direction of the director fitness trainers are responsible, but not limited to assisting members with safe effective exercise programs, orientations for members, maintenance and cleaning of equipment and facilities, maintaining accurate files, records, and charges for each member, gives tours and information to potential members, teaching exercise classes, assists with health screenings and wellness programs. Responsible for daily operations during 2nd shift.
Qualifications:
Education:
must be at least 17 years old. Personal trainer certification.
Competencies:
must be able to demonstrate the following after the completion of orientation: ability to work well with the public, knowledge of personal training, knowledge of accurate exercise prescriptions, ability to present self and facility to public as directed.
Experience:
previous fitness/wellness experience required. Database systems as well as public relations is preferred.
